Hotel Rose Garden Xperience @ Tokyo, nishi-Shinjuku
(June 2008)
This Hotel is about 3 minutes walk from the Nishi-Shinjuku station. Look at the next 2 photos. This is the route that we use to the train station. This hotel is about 15-20 minutes walk away from the main Shinjuku area. It is definitely walkable. However, you can also take a 3 minutes walk and then take the Train to the Main shinjuku station, 1 stop away!
The good thing is, since you are mostly going out of Shinjuku, this fact that the Hotel is just next to the Metro staion is great. You can just take a very short walk every time you want to go visit other parts of Tokyo.. Really convenient! There is 1 Jap fast food (buy tickets to exchange for food) named "Song Wu" (Chinese translation) and 2 7-11 type of outlets (not 24hour).
The not so good thing is, you can't get the instant thrill of seeing crowds and colour lightings from the Main Shinjuku area. The instant convenience of getting a bite/drink from the 24 hour stalls. But if you like it more peaceful and quiet, this is the place for you!
This is the Station that I mentioned. M07- Marunouchi Line- Nishi-Shinjuku Station.
Corridor of the Hotel...
The room is very small..We always on budget, so we chose the smallest simplest room..
I like it very cozy, 2 footsteps and you reach where you need to go within the room..hahah..
The toilet is very clean, and very 'white'. The toilet bowl is a gadget! haha.. Spray jet and etc, you can play with all the buttons and you can wash wherever you need to with controls.
Based on my experience to Japan/Tokyo, if you are heavy shopper and you have alot of things to carry at the end of the trip, or even before the trip started, method of transferring to and fro the airport is important.
Based on what I know, there are two ways; 1) take train and 2) take the limousine bus-those airport limousine bus. You can take taxi, but its so so so expensive.
If you have alot to carry and alot of trolley bags to drag to and fro the airport, it will be best to take the limousine bus. WhY? Because the train station is always so busy with a lot of people, especially at Shinjuku station! If its the first time you are going there, you will be overwhelmed by the crowd at the station. And there are so many exits and so many sub-lines.. With all the lagguages, OMG, its reallly cumblesome and confusing and frustrating... So it will be best to take the limousine bus that will stop near your Hotel **and you just drag your lagguages for some distance under less crowded condition.
But if you are those light traveller, of course that is not an issue for you. =)
The picture shows the Airport Limousine picking passengers from the Airport.
**As for taking the Airport limousine bus, you must check carefully whether your Hotel is near to the pick up and the drop-off point. So that is also 1 consideration point you can take note of. Some pick up and drop off points are at the hotel itself. But not all the hotel has such a stop. So remember to check. Just Google Airport limousine bus in Tokyo!
